Arco da Porta Nova is a triumphal arch. It was crafted by the Braga based sculptor Andre Soares in the middle of the 18th century. The east side is understated, with an niche with a Marian sculpture , while the west side is far bolder, featuring a stone coat of arms and pyramidal pinnacles above a baroque arch of Arco da Porta Nova.
