The Tower of London is close to the Tower Bridge, just South of the City along the Northern bank of the River Thames. Over the course of the 1,000 years of its history, the Tower of London served as a fortification, a castle, a royal palace and, also, most famously, as a prison. Visiting the Tower of London is like jumping in a time machine: history buffs can’t miss it.
